About the Book

JP's tryst with India's destiny and his mission of life had been to secure the freedom of his nation from the British and the socio-economic justice for the people, maintenance of their genuine rights and natural liberty-all epitomized into Swaraj and Sarvodaya. He dedicated his whole self for the realization of his Mission, first by becoming a devout fighter for India's Freedom, and when that goal was achieved, next by redefining his Socialism as to his Basics. JP gave up politics, shunned seats of power, joined Vinoba's Sarvodaya movement and became a "Jeevandani". But twenty years after immersing himself fully in the Bhoodan-Gramdan movement, he confronted a void in it, and with no new light coming from Vinoba, JP added the political dimension to Sarvodaya, now called the Revolutionary Sarvodaya. In the wake of the Bihar movement of 1974-75, JP gave a "Call to the Youth for Democracy" (approved by Vinoba), and advanced his national ideology, captioned as the Total Revolution. While all this went on peacefully to restore democracy, JP was detained as emergency prisoner, charged with 'fascist designs' and lodged in PGI Chandigarh where both his kidneys became dysfunctional. Within few months, he joined the company of immortals. JP has left a rich legacy of his ideas and ideals of the Total Revolution, relevant today, as these were then and hopefully shall remain so for the coming generations. Both Gandhi and JP arc perpetuated for posterity in the great legacies of their ideas as to Swaraj, Lok-niti (than rajniti), Lok-shakti (people's power) and their vision of future India. Happily now both of them seem to have come alive in the work and personality of Yogrishi Swami Ramdev, whose Yoga-Pranayama Revolution and his Movement for the Resurgence of India to her Glory provide a hope line and help-line, and may prove to be a precursor of JP's Total Revolution and fulfillment of his mission and also that of Gandhi, thus synchronizing his Tryst with India's Destiny. The book entitled "JP's Tryst with India's Destiny and His Mission" is based on research work and a wide range of primary sources has been tapped in preparing it. This book in your valued hands brings all this to you with a critical analysis and justifiably so.
