About the Author: Nohemí is one of twelve children from a third generation Colombian family. She was born on the remote mountain plantation her father named El Tyrol, which he hacked out of the jungle. After the murder of her father, killed because he was only trying to vote, her mother and children moved to Ibagué, then to Bogotá, capital of Colombia. Nohemí received her early education in Colombia and later struggled for more after she took her children to the United States after they were abandoned by their father's family. She studied poetry in her hometown in Colombia under the direction of the Poet Laureate Luz Stella. She founded the Island Poet's Society in Hawaii. She was the Special Assistant to the President of the Colombian Supreme Court, Dr. José Antonio Caycedo, when she started learning about injustices and abuses in her country. Nohemí legally immigrated to the United States in 1963, where as a single parent she raised her family of three children Herbert, Joe and Mary. She taught and was a Dean at several colleges, translated legislation and news to Spanish for various Governors and DMV Directors of California, and televised it throughout the State. She was a Television Director and Talk Show Host and aired radio programs in San José, Costa Rica, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California. Nohemí was loaned by various Governors to state and federal emergency agencies for several years, providing information as media advisor, during disasters, earthquakes, fires, and floods. Her Spanish Poetry work, Semblanzas y Recuerdos, was published by California State University, Sacramento, and distributed throughout the United States as a Literature Text for Graduate Students. Nohemí's poetry reflects her love for both her countries Colombia and the United States. Her poetry is full of excitement, energy, vivid imagery, and colors anyone can relate to with excitement. Nohemí takes us through her exquisite poetry with intimate feelings and unforgettable characters every step along each adventurous journey. Nohemí received many awards publishing her poems through various United States organizations. She published her Spanish adventure novel Colombina Buscando la Felicidad, which is being well received in the international literary market. Now, Colombina Searching for Happiness is available in English, Spanish and French. A Journey Through Life with Wisdom to Share contains special poems of wisdom giving us insight, which can change our lives.
