When the whole world was bent on destroying the fledgling Christian faith and perhaps its own future in the process, one aged disciple was miraculously saved from martyrdom and chosen for a journey that would become the inspiration of generations to come! So many times John refers to periods of time such as 42 months even a thousand years as if he actually lived through them. Could it be possible he experienced all this in real time? Could John during his vision have experienced the passing of over a thousand years such that his small cave in Patmos felt like an alien world from the distant past by the time he returned to it? Go back, or perhaps I should say go forward, and experience with the apostle this marvelous vision called the Revelation of Jesus Christ!
About the Author: Kerry Dougan was born in 1966 in the small town of Madison, Indiana. He was raised in a Christian home with his parents Jerry and Donna and one younger brother, Kelly, and grew up in an American Baptist Church. He attended Purdue University and received his bachelor's of science in chemical engineering in 1989. After spending nearly six years working at the Bethlehem Steel mill on the Indiana Lakeshore, he felt the call to the mission field. On an exploratory trip to the Dominican Republic, he met his wife Milagros, a native Dominican. The two were married a year later in 1994. They returned to the Dominican as full time missionaries in 1995 after the birth of their first child. They have now been working as a couple in a school for at risk children in Jarabacoa, high in the mountains of the central Dominican Republic for twenty years under the auspices of the child sponsorship organization Kids Alive International. They have three children, Sarah, 20, Oliver 17, and Alina, 14. Kerry's interest in the Bible has been innate since he was a small child when he would spend his entire Saturdays immersed in the Scriptures. His interest in prophecy began in earnest in his steel mill days when he wrote the original version of his book, The Vultures' End; Death is Swallowed up in Victory.
