About the Book

Once upon a time, journalists held the landscape of Kunsunda to ransom by revealing, exposing, investigating, reporting, and journalizing everyone and every issue within their sights for a very long time, until somebody decided to fight them via an observed flaw - hypocrisy. Now in a time, "this person," setting the journalists against themselves, revealed the most dirty and unbelievable sides of journalists the world never knew of.When the pursuer became the pursued, and the reporter became the reported, the end result was the triumph of an inventive initiative; an unprecedented media war; the disdain of the masses; then the anger of the masses; an express path for the beneficiary; and an anti climax for a certain passionate protagonist. The story is centered around Dolbal Ubo, a born journalist. Prompted by his love for "pure" journalism, he started reporting the intolerable failings of his colleagues, a dimension which set him against them, and which led to an industrial gang up against him. Eventually, he was thrown out of the industry. Thereafter, he tried setting up his own news firm but was denied by the banks because of his radical political reporting. Soon, he became redundant, unemployable, and then, restricted from media entrepreneurship. However, in the midst of his vicissitudes, someone had noticed his passion. His name is Alhaji Dida Kanso, a businessman cum entrepreneur. According to Alhaji Kanso, from Ubo's fights with his colleagues while active, he had fallen upon an idea - journalizing journalists; and as far as he is concerned, Ubo is the only man for its actualization. The idea was like self discovery for Ubo as he christened the counter journalist firm, "the Journal Critic," and her staffs, "journal critics." The Journal Critic became the mainstream journalists' and media's nightmare as soon, courtesy of it, the public became enlightened about the unbelievably nasty sides of journalists. Not only were they exposed for being drug peddlers, homosexuals, lesbians, bribers, obstructors of justice, indirect smugglers, abortionists, abusers of privileges, speculative liars, embezzlers, and as would latter unfold, assassins; but the Journal Critic ensured that most of them got jailed. Of course, the media fought back. After snooping on journal critics for incriminating acts to no avail, they tried assassinating Ubo but failed. Then they opted for inducing the corruptible amongst the journal critics to see if they would reveal secrets that can be used against their own outfit. And they found the journal critic, Ososo Oja, who leaked a vital information about the secret links of the Journal Critic to the ruling party, to the mainstream media to spite his ignorant boss, Ubo, because he disappointed his sister to marry Alhaji Kanso's daughter instead.Meanwhile, the organized civil society, mobilized for a "masses' media strike" to show their irk at the media's hypocrisy, forcing many media firms to downsize or outrightly shut down. When Ubo confirmed through media publications that the Journal Critic is a political mastermind against journalism, he became distraught, concluding instantly his eventful little life has met a dead end. ln the end, the politicians had their way as they succeeded in weakening the media so they won't have nuisances to unhindered corrupt practices.
