About the Book

The ancient family of "du Perche, Laperche, St. Jean, St. John" descends from "Count Baron Lord Knight Sir Geoffroi du Perche de Chateaudun of Chateaudun, Normandy, France. His sons, Grandsons, and Great Grandsons all were Lords Knights and Barons who held large estates and castles in Chateaudun. His Grandson "Lord Knight Sir Rotrou (Chateaudun) du Perche de Chateaudun " succeeded his father and grandfather as "Comte de Montagne". With his father they supported and lead large Military Forces in the invasion of Hastings, England in 1066, for the Duke of Normandy "William the Conqueror". His son "Lord Knight Sir Robert Perche would remained in England to govern his fathers estates and holdings as well as his own, that were bestowed upon them by King William. While his father went back to France to govern their holdings in France. Sir Roberts main holdings and base of operation, estates, lands, and castle was located in Wormleighton, Warwickshire, England. His descendants would remain in Wormleighton for ten generations from (1130-1425) for little over 300 years. Then his descendant "Thomas Perche" (1425) decided to go to his forefathers home land of France, where he eventually settled in "Aymeries Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, where his descendants would remain in around the county, until his descendant "Jean Baptiste Laperche St. Jean" (1674-1753) would arrive in New France (Montreal) Quebec in 1693 at the age of 19 years of age, as a "Soldier of the Regiment Carignan-Salieres". Then his descendant "Louis Laperche St. John arrives in Plattsburgh New York with his son "John St. John" in 1854. John St. John would grow up developing the largest Livery Stable in Plattsburgh, boarding and carrying for all the Cities horses (for the police and fire departments and dignitaries.) He was a staunch businessman who bought, sold and traded horses through out several communities surrounding Plattsburgh and parts of Northern Vermont. He married twice and adopted a baby daughter "Clara Anna Gordon" upon marring her mother "Fidelia Mero dit Miron. Clara Anna Gordon St. John, would also be known as Anna St. John, Anna Gordon, and Anna Condon. She married "Wallace Arnold Congdon/Condon" who worked for her father John St. John, and she had eight children by him and when Wallace died she married "Joseph Grifford" a cement mason, and when he died she married David Romeo Arquette, a young apprentice who worked for Joseph Grifford. After three years, after he found out she was going to bars and picking up men and prostituting her self for more money then her husband could make, David threw her out and with her children she went to Burlington Vermont, where her oldest son was living and working. She bought a rooming house with eight tenants, with the money she had saved up. She remained in Burlington to see all her children and grandchildren marry off. She never gave up her ways of going to bars and picking up men, which lasted till the day she died.
