About the Book

Leadership. Are you a leader? If anyone has ever looked to you for direction, than at that point in your life, yes, leadership became your task. Being a leader isn't easy; it can be exhausting, thankless, and demanding as easily as it is rewarding and spiritually fulfilling. Jethro's Challenge is an exegetical look at fifteen powerful verses found in Exodus 18:13-27. There we find Moses leading, doing the best he can and still wearing himself out, and his father-in-law, Jethro, giving him a new perspective on effective leadership. I pray the words in this book will drive you-not to the top as a leader, but to your knees as a servant of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Remember, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (NIV, Matthew 20:26). Leadership is not a right, it's a privilege, and that privilege is to serve those the Lord has entrusted under your care. From the Author: "If you are like me, you have read a number of books on the topic of leadership. It's my honest prayer that the words on the following pages will be viewed, not so much as a how-to, as much as an honest Biblical approach to the privilege of being a leader. The words of this book are an exegetical look at fifteen powerful verses found in Exodus 18:13-27. These fifteen verses have helped me as a leader to my family, to God's church, and to the community of which I am privileged to be a part. I believe if you will take to heart these words of Scripture, you too will be a better leader for the Lord. The book is divided into three main sections: Truths About Leadership, Truths About Leaders, and Tips To Being A Great Leader. Inside each of these sections will be a number of helpful tools, all directly from these fifteen verses, which will center around being the leader that God has called you to be. In addition, I have provided examples, some personal and some from experiences within the last twenty years of ministry, that have helped to show and direct me in the truths of these verses of Scripture. I certainly hope you enjoy the book, but far greater, I hope you gain a deeper understanding of your calling as a leader and commit your life to serving the Lord every step of the way. Remember, He calls us, and our service as leaders is for Him and Him alone."
