Hat sich das Kinderbild der Erwachsenen doch im Laufe der letzten zwei Jahrhunderte drastisch geändert. Galten Kinder noch bis zum Anfang des achtzehnten Jahrhunderts als kleine Erwachsene und bedurften der damaligen Anschauung nach keiner besonderen Behandlung, so werden sie heute in Zeiten der rückläufigen Geburtenraten, oft von den Eltern glorifiziert und müssen die Wünsche und Erwartungen dieser in sich bündeln. Die Eltern des 2010er Jahrzehnts stehen hingegen unter dem Druck ihre Söhne und Töchter unbedingt fördern zu müssen, im Hinblick auf eine Zukunft die in unserem Kulturkreis vor allem auf einen hohen Lebensstandard und finanziellem Erfolg ausgerichtet ist. Frühförderung im Kindergartenalter und Schulreformen im Jahrestakt sind Schlagworte der Erziehung. Gleichzeitig geben schlechte PISA Ergebnisse und wachsender Schulunmut den öffentlichen pädagogischen Einrichtungen ein negatives Bild und Ansehen. Schüler und Schülerinnen verlassen immer früher die Schule, sowohl durch die auf acht Jahre verkürzte Gymnasialzeit oder des Wegfalls des Sitzenbleibens zum Beispiel in Hamburg um eine Berufsausbildung zu absolvieren und dem Arbeitsmarkt schnellstmöglich zur Verfügung zu stehen. Mit dem Anspruch, dass in kürzerer Zeit derselbe Stoff qualitativ gleichwertig erlernt wird. Von Pädagogen und Pädagoginnen wird erwartet diesem Bildungsanspruch gerecht zu werden und gleichzeitig noch erzieherisch auf die Kinder einzuwirken.
