About the Book

We all have hard choices in life and the James Girls are no exception. In this first installment in a series of stories chronicling the lives of several generations of exceptionally strong women, Brenda James, wife of one of DC's biggest drug dealers is hell bent on revenge for her husband's brutal murder. She suspects his best friend is involved and risks everything to find the truth. As she grabs the tiny key from her bedside drawer and pulls the gray metal box from under her bed she inevitably makes the biggest choice of her life. A choice between her family and her freedom. Melissa "Missy" James, the eldest sister and diva extraordinaire chooses the fairy tale. Having spent the better part of her life trying to get away from her family and out of the hood, she finally landed her big fish. Pro football player and media darling Ray Coleman. Missy had everything she'd ever dreamed of. A man who adored her, wealth, fortune and fame. But she soon found out that what she chose was actually pyrite - a fools gold. This riveting series spans three generations of James' from the back country roads of the Carolina's to DC's gritty inner city to the wealthy suburbs of Potomac, Maryland. On their journey to discover the real strength of family, the James Girls' faith will be tested, devastating secrets are revealed and their lives will be changed forever.
About the Author: F.J. Stevens is a creative writer, singer, songwriter, a native Washingtonian with an immense love for her city with a wildly vivid imagination. She spent the better part of the last 20 years in corporate America, until the day that a corporate merger (and a fairly generous severance package) sent her home to her sofa, where she was able to exhale, put up her feet for a while and pen her first novel, the first in a series of gritty urban family sagas, "James Girls". Leveraging on her experiences, and the many interesting characters she's encountered growing up in the inner city of DC; endeavoring into the world of entertainment; navigating through the corporate world in a brown girl's skin and dating in this new modern era of social media where popularity is paramount and dumbing yourself down while turning up is the acceptable norm, F.J. has seen and experienced quite a bit in her day. So, you take a handful of those characters, a few of the more interesting experiences, and sprinkle in some imagination, and you've got a recipe for some seriously entertaining material...or a hot mess. Depending on your taste. Today F. J. wears many hats including that of a doting mother to a beautiful son on the autism spectrum, a dedicated mentor to young at risk girls in her city, a businesswoman, real estate investor and entrepreneur. Each of these roles have their own rich rewards and she is beyond tickled to now add "authoress" to the ring.
