Das Jahrbuch des Vereins für Geschichte und Kultur der Mennoniten in Paraguay will keinen Krieg verherrlichen, sondern durch die Beiträge die Geschichte am Leben erhalten; erinnern, um dadurch aufzufordern, dass auch 80 Jahre nach Ende der blutigen Auseinandersetzungen eines sinnlosen und wahnwitzigen Krieges Menschen aufeinander zugehen und friedlich miteinander leben können. Und dass es eine Herausforderung ist, der man sich täglich stellen muss, friedliches Miteinander zu fördern und praktisch zu leben. Es ist von Bedeutung, immer wieder darauf hinzuweisen, dass Krieg als Mittel der Politik nur zu gnadenloser Gewalt und Gräueltaten führt, und dass, wo immer Gewalttaten und Kriege herrschen, auch die Frage einer friedlichen Lösung auftauchen sollte. Leider ist es bis heute so, dass dieser Friede größtenteils unter Druck von außen gesucht wird - im Chaco war es nicht eine große Ausnahme. Das Mennonitische Zentralkomitee hat sich schon oftmals die Frage gestellt, wie denn durch friedliche Handlungen Frieden in Konfliktgebiete gebracht werden kann. Es kann da nicht um Rechthaberei gehen, sondern es muss der Frieden gelebt werden. Kann man Gott, Jesus Christus und die Friedenstheologie des Neuen Testaments weglassen, wenn man Frieden leben will? Ist es (ge)recht, wenn der scheinbar entscheidende Sieg der Paraguayer im Chacokrieg auch 80 Jahre danach noch gebührender gefeiert wird als der Friedensschluss (29. September vs. 12. Juni)? Ist es für Pazifisten wichtiger, den Frieden zu feiern, als selber Frieden zu leben, aufzubauen und instand zu halten? Wenn wir eine Friedenstheologie haben bzw. beanspruchen, sie zu haben, dann sollte doch der kleine Krieg unter uns beigelegt werden; dann sollte die Wehrdienstverweigerung nicht nur ein äußerliches Zeichen sein, sondern eine Lebenseinstellung beinhalten. Tragen wir zum Frieden bei, wenn wir wirtschaftlich erfolgreich sind, viel erfolgreicher als (fast) alle Nachbarn im Land?
About the Author: Rudolf Dück Sawatzky: Rudolf Dück Sawatzky wurde 1951 in Filadelfia, Kolonie Fernheim, Paraguay geboren. Nach der deutschen Schule in Filadelfia kam er 1970 nach Hamburg, um eine Ausbildung als Buchhandels- und Verlagskaufmann abzuschließen. Danach spezialisierte er sich als führende Fachkraft für den fremdsprachigen (größtenteils Englisch) Buchimport in Deutschland.
