About the Book

Imagine you are a fly in the wall while your daughter vents to a confidant her frustrations about school, struggles with the urge and availability of sex, or when your son confesses that he's been getting high during the hour between when he gets home from school and you get home from work. How much would you pay to hear the unadulterated truth about your influence on your child's decision making? Many parents fall short in having the desired outcome in their children because they aren't given the advantage of disclosure. This book, is a dairy of confessions direct from the usually tight-lipped teens and the interpretation of their behavior by someone who sees them every day. Dr. Craig Dossman, the clinic director of a sports medicine office in Downtown Long Beach, California. He is a team doctor for Long Beach Polytechnic High School athletic program as well as other schools in Southern California. He has the benefit of being a caregiver and confidant to hundreds of young people. His energy and report with the teens he works with, most of them athletes from inner city neighborhoods, is unmatched. To his patients he is both doctor and friend. With unapologetic candor, Dr. Dossman (or "Doc" he is known my most) delivers the truth about the effect parents are having on their teens. Neglect, single parenthood, sex, and the like are discussed with the intent to inform and transform the parent - child relationship. He acts as a voice for this generation, all with diverse issues, yet common solutions. He shows you what you can do to make things better for our future.
About the Author: Affectionately known as "Doc" by all, Dr. Craig Dossman, Jr. is deemed by many as the top sports medicine practitioner in Southern California. He is sought out by athletes on every level - pop warner football, youth track, high school, college, and professional - and has become the go to guy for the demographic of youth, ages 12-25. Words such as passionate, personable, energetic, animated, spiritual, compassionate, no-nonsense, and hilarious are all used to describe this gifted practitioner. Doc is both loved and respected in his beloved Long Beach community for his care and dedication to the youth. Although he is a clinic owner and director who works with the community and various local schools, his reputation was developed through his professional relationship with the Long Beach Polytechnic High School Athletic department, a nationally recognized powerhouse. He is often seen at various sporting events lending his time. Quite simply, he is unorthodox in every way. In fact, you would never know he is a doctor if you met him on the street. You might even mistake him for a patient when you visit his office. Doc is hypomanic, filled with endless energy and ideas, and always planning his newest innovation and treatment approach. Compounding his accomplished work in Sports Medicine, he is also the creator of Vocal Biomechanical Rehabilitation (VBR), an unprecedented vocal rehabilitative therapy, the developer/owner of various pending patent ideas such as Dossman Advantage Taping (patent pending), a system that enhances deep tendon reflexes to increase speed and improve muscle recovery in athletes. Doc Dossman is the owner and clinic director of his sports medicine practice in downtown Long Beach. As if his plate isn't full enough, he serves on the Advisory Board for the Fremont College Sport Science Program. He also serves on the Diversity Council to the President at the Southern California University of Health Sciences, where he is a Supervising Doctor for the Post Graduate Internship Program. A Southern California native, Doc resides in Long Beach wife his wife, Rashida and son, Craig III. He enjoys spending time at home with his family, exercising, making people laugh, and is the worship leader at his church.
