Il nuovo libro postumo di Vincenzo Pirro incentra l'attenzione sul rapporto tra due civiltà e culture che hanno iniziato ad amarsi-odiarsi fin dall'Alto Medioevo e hanno continuato a interagire ancora nel Novecento, quando hanno interpretato e tentato di risolvere in senso moderno la crisi dello Stato. In un'analisi che legge filosoficamente la storia e accerta storicamente il pensiero filosofico - secondo la grande lezione vichiana che invita ad accertare il vero e inverare il certo - l'Autore si spinge in un'attualità che in parte è ancora la nostra, in cui nazione e Stato si sono separati per perdersi entrambi. Morte della Patria, mancanza di senso civico, disonestà pubblica sono figli dell'incapacità di metabolizzare il fascismo come parte della storia italiana ed europea e nel conseguente rifiuto di conservare e continuare la nazionalizzazione delle masse da esso compiuta. Italia e Germania offrirono soluzioni diverse alla crisi del Novecento, che determinarono anche un diverso atteggiamento rispetto all'Europa. Temi, questi, che hanno il pregio di lumeggiare anche le dialettiche dei nostri tempi, in virtù della serietà "religiosa" con la quale Pirro è solito condurre le sue analisi. About the Author: Vincenzo Pirro (San Severo 1938 - Terni 2009). Allievo di Ugo Spirito, docente di Storia e Filosofia presso le Università e i Licei, dedica tutta la sua esistenza alla ricerca scientifica, alla cultura, e ai suoi studenti. Scrive su pubblicazioni specializzate come: Il Giornale Critico della Filosofia Italiana, Nuovi Studi Politici e I Problemi della Pedagogia. Imponente la mole di pubblicazioni realizzate che coprono una finestra di più di quarant'anni; tra le sue opere nel campo filosofico degli anni '70 citiamo: Filosofia e politica in Giovanni Gentile (1970), Filosofia e politica in Benedetto Croce (1976), Cultura e politica in Benedetto Croce (1976), Filosofia e politica nel problematicismo di Ugo Spirito (1976) e Corpo e cosmo nell'attualismo di Giovanni Gentile (1977). A partire dagli anni '80, si dedica anche agli studi di storia, con particolare passione per il Risorgimento, diviene presidente del Comitato Provinciale di Terni dell'Istituto di Storia del Risorgimento. Scrive alcune monografie, tra le principali citiamo: Terni durante l'Età rivoluzionaria e Napoleonica (1989), Terni e la sua Provincia durante la Repubblica Sociale (1990), Gli Arabi e Noi (1991), L'altro Mediterraneo (1991), Giuseppe Petroni: dallo Stato pontificio all'Italia unita (1991), Terni nell'Età del Risorgimento (2005). Fonda il "Centro Studi Storici" (1989) e la rivista "Memoria Storica" (1991). Instancabile organizzatore di Convegni, ne citiamo alcuni L'altro Mediterraneo (1987), Il Nazionalismo arabo origini e sviluppi (1991), Giuseppe Petroni dallo Stato Pontificio all'Italia unita (1991), Elia Rossi Passavanti nell'Italia del '900 (2002), Federico Cesi e i primi Lincei in Umbria (2003), San Valentino Patrono di Terni (2004). È stato consigliere dell'ISUC (Istituto di Storia dell'Umbria Contemporanea), dell'ICSIM (Istituto di Storia per la Cultura dell'Impresa Franco Momigliano) e dell'IRRE (Istituto Regionale di Ricerca Educativa dell'Umbria). Ci ha lasciato un libro postumo intitolato "Regnum hominis" - l'umanesimo di Giovanni Gentile - Ed. Nuova Cultura, Roma (2012).
