Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Psychologie - Entwicklungspsychologie, Note: 1, Universität Wien (Institut für Angewandte Psychologie: Gesundheit, Entwicklung und Förderung), Veranstaltung: Lebenslanges Lernen im familialen Kontext, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Arbeitswelt und stellt in diesem Zusammenhang die Frage, ob diese Vereinbarkeit ein spezifisch weibliches Phänomen ist. Viele Variablen beeinflussen die Problematik der Vereinbarkeit, aber zwei Determinanten scheinen für die Lösung dieser Fragen ausschlaggebend: post-patriarchale-egalitäre Geschlechterverhältnisse in Beruf und Familie sowie ganztagsorientierte und vorschulische Bereuungsinfrastrukturen flexibler Art. Der Staat sowie Unternehmen sind gefordert, Rahmenbedingungen zu schaffen, die dazu beitragen, die Balance zwischen Beruf und Familie zu ermöglichen. Ländervergleichende Studien zeigen, dass es keine "one-best-way" dafür gibt. Vielmehr müssen sich die Regelungen an den Interessen der Arbeitnehmer UND Unternehmen orientieren sowie lokal/regional dem Bedarf angepasst werden. Ein Bewusstseinswandel auf gesellschaftlicher Ebene erscheint unabdingbar (Scarr 1988), um einerseits berufstätige Mütter (vor allem jene mit kleinen Kindern unter 3 Jahren) zu entstigmatisieren als auch Männern die Anspruchnahme der Karenzzeit quasi "schmackhaft" und somit salonfähig zu machen. Zu aller erst müsste sich aber die finanzielle Leistung während der Karenz auf jeden Fall am Einkommen orientieren (neben weiteren Maßnahmen wie z.B. dem Elternurlaub oder steuerlichen Maßnahmen), zumal es vor dem Hintergrund der Maximierung des Haushaltseinkommens durchwegs rational erscheint, dass Mütter und nicht Väter ihre Erwerbstätigkeit unterbrechen (Schweitzer, 2000). Gerade in der Phase der Familiengründung kommen die negativen Aspekte der Einkommensschere am stärksten zum Tragen. Die faktische Gleichstellung von Mann und Frau
