Islanders Synopsis Four Parts, Twenty Chapters A coffee shop in 21st century Toronto. A prostitute, Susan Foley is approached by a Chinese woman who offers her a hundred dollars. She follows her into a car which whisks her to another place in Time. Outside stands her brother Matthew Foley. His adopted daughter Mei Ling pulls him away from the car telling her Susan is not her sister. Susan floats in a tank as her past life is stripped away watched by Matthew and Louise Miller Janet Gleeson jogging down a street finds a letter addressed to her. It directs her to a restaurant where she meets Louise Miller who gives her a package. She soon disappears. Once home Janet opens the package . It opens a window on a street in Toronto. On a corner stands Susan Foley. Louise appears beside Janet and takes her out on the street. Susan Foley waiting for customers sees two strange women approach. Louise tells her that Janet is who she could have been. Janet now aware of her past life as Susan Foley agrees to see Mathew who is dying so that he can say goodbye to his sister.: Paul a teacher at a mission in Botswana is sent to pick up a new teacher, Miss Janet Gleason. He cannot know that she was once Susan Foley and that she and he will marry. Many years later after Paul's death. Louise appears and offers Janet a job. She declines, refusing until her dying day. Content to wait Louise agrees.Louis chooses an island to begin a new settlement. Among the first settlers she chooses Alice Brightman to be cared for by Susan Foley.Daniel Bishop former agent is called out of retirement by Matthew Foley to help organize a new settlement. He also helps to rescue prospective settlers from the Titanic.Mathew asks Daniel to save three distant relatives, the Brightmans, from the Empress of Ireland. Gehlen travels to Novy Rossiya to investigate a missing colonist. Gehlen meets with Sean and Joanna. He is informed of other disappearances from the settlements. He leaves to find himself plunged into a dark rainy night. Gehlen meets Eloise who in later years be both Margaret Bascombe and Louise Miller.Eloise takes Gehlen to meet Thomas Bascombe her future husband. Tiamet once Richard is brought back from Sumeria by Joanna. She takes him to a meeting where they are informed of a rash of disappearances from the settlements.Four Volunteers, Joanna, Richard, Mei Ling and Daniel travel to Pigeon Island to meet Louise and discuss the growing number of disappearances. Louise shows them the way into the future but declines to accompany them. Gehlen is introduced to Gem and Edward the two remaining Guardians. Dismissing them as little better than machines he demands to see Louise. He is directed to a small village in Africa. Dongass A small village in the French Sudan in the nineteen-fifties. Louise lives outside it. She teaches the children and offers first aid. Gehlen asks why she is there and why she does not want to leave. Frustrated Gehlen returns to the portal. Over time Gehlen begins to realize that Gem and Edward are far than machines. They offer him companionship, the closest he has ever been to a family. He adapts tolife at the portal.The Visitors The four arrive at the portal There they meet Gehlen and Gem. An image of Louise appears to tell them that they are crossing over to a new beginning for humanity. The portal is to be destroyed. Edward unable to leave waits for the end of the portal. He is surprised by a last visitor, Louise. Together they wait for the end.
