Más allá de las reflexiones sobre fechas y nombres relacionados con eventos fundacionales hispánicos en la región bajosinuana de la colonial provincia de Cartagena, se quiere brindar a la investigación educativa elementos teóricos críticos que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de un marco interpretativo que permita ligar la superación de vacíos académicos y tradicionalismos que la memoria colectiva mantiene contra toda evidencia documental, con nuevas perspectivas investigativas que vienen construyéndose sobre la historia del Caribe colombiano. El cuerpo de este escrito está constituido por el entrecruzamiento de dos ensayos elaborados a partir de las inquietudes suscitadas desde 2011 por la iniciativa de un grupo de académicos, quienes fueron encargados por la Alcaldía de Santa Cruz de Lorica para presentar al Concejo, una propuesta de cambio en la fecha fundacional del 3 de mayo de 1.740 al 24 de noviembre de 1.776, señalándose como "fundador" a Antonio de la Torre y Miranda, ante la argumentada ausencia de Juan de Torrezar Díaz Pimienta en la región para la fecha objeto de la modificación. Esta situación, generó la posibilidad de decir algo sobre la falta de respaldo documental que rodea el supuesto hecho fundacional de la ciudad de Lorica, convirtiéndose desde entonces en una constante fuente de sorpresas que incentivaron la indagación y la motivación por dar a conocer aclaraciones sobre temas, que por el respeto de la opinión pública a sus autores, se dan por incuestionables. De allí, el título "INVITACIÓN A LA REVISIÓN DE LA HISTORIA DEL BAJO SINÚ", ante el hallazgo, como resultado del cruce de la información contenida en los textos conocidos en la región sobre la temática en comento, de más de una evidencia sobre la falta de unanimidad entre los escritores leídos respecto a la presencia de Juan de Torrezar Díaz Pimienta en el Sinú entre 1740 a 1744; ruta utilizada por Antonio de la Torre y Miranda para llegar a Lorica; propósito(s) de las expediciones del militar español antes nombrado; alternativas para fijar el 3 de mayo como fecha fundacional hispánica, entre otros temas. Incursionar investigativamente en ese sentido, para ir tras la posible conexión indo-afro-abiayalense en relación con la procedencia del nombre de la otrora "Perla del Sinú", es preferible, antes de acudir, como lo hicieron los proponentes del cambio en la fecha fundacional, a un vocablo latino (Loriga), para explicar esa denominación, cuando en contraposición, se aboga por la búsqueda un origen más cercano y a favor de la valoración de los vínculos entre Kunas y Cenues, incluso, entre estos y los negros cimarrones, como se induce hipotéticamente en el segundo de los ensayos que integran este libro. De paso, se aprovecha para introducir elementos desmitificadores sobre la presencia pre-colonial negra en lo que preferimos nombrar como Abia Yala/América, en razón al respeto y valoración de la cultura originaria de este continente, la cual entra a desconocerse, al institucionalizarse aniversarios, cumpleaños y conmemoraciones de las localidades colombianas, solo a partir de las fundaciones y/o refundaciones hispánicas. Lo que se ha analizado sobre el nombre de Lorica, permitió hacer mucho más visible e integrada las relaciones entre la población originaria de lo que los primeros habitantes de este Continente llamaron Abia Yala y las principales culturas africanas objeto de la Diáspora esclavizadora.
