Up until recently, Luke Thornton lived a pretty uneventful existence. His biggest concern was rolling out of bed in time for his shift at the comic book store, and he still lived in the same town he grew up in, with no desire to get a real job or leave. Goals and aspirations were long-forgotten, replaced by a life of dull comfort.
But Luke Thornton's plans for life are not what matter in this story-what matters are life's plans for Luke Thornton.
Into the Hive of Saarlathesh is the uniquely told story of how, through a series of mysterious events and paranormal encounters, Luke is dragged into a quest for knowledge that pits him against relentless, power-hungry forces determined to break him. Cleverly combining elements of comedy with horror, the story follows Luke from his initial discovery of a ghost in his home, through dealings with enigmatic strangers, to confrontations with powerful forces more sinister, dark, and deadly than any of us could dare imagine.
Sure to appeal to fans of H. P. Lovecraft, David Wong, and Neil Gaiman, Into the Hive of Saarlathesh will tickle your funny bone on one page, dangle you from a cliff on another, and hold your interest throughout.
About the Author: Johnny Toxin is a freelance writer and programmer who has an associate's degree in video game design. He loves fiction in all its forms, and has been writing short stories for seven years now.
His debut novel, Into the Hive of Saarlathesh, started out as a much shorter piece of fiction, which was slowly teased out as Toxin found himself relentlessly writing, until he created what he is proud to describe as "a weird piece of fiction, horror, and comedy."
As is evident in his work, Toxin enjoys having a laugh as much as a scare, and he plans to bring more of his unique tales to print as soon as possible. In the meantime, however, he sincerely hopes that his fans won't hunt him down in New Jersey.
