Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Literatur, Note: 2,3, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Englisches Seminar), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit widmet sich der Ausarbeitung und Analyse von Intertextualität in Ian McEwans Bestseller-Roman Saturday, der 2006 im Londoner Continuum-Verlag erschienen ist und sowohl von Kritikern als auch von der Leserschaft gewürdigt wurde; so erhielt Ian McEwan 2006 den James Tait Black Prize für fiction und stand 2005 auf der Nominierungsliste für den Man Booker Prize. Im Rahmen des Seminars mit dem Titel "Postmodern Fiction: Martin Amis and Ian McEwan" wurde der Roman vor allem in Hinsicht auf seine genretypischen Aspekte und Merkmale untersucht, aber auch mit Blick auf seine zahlreichen intertextuellen Verweise. Die vorliegende Arbeit will nun diesen Faden wieder aufgreifen und den starken intertextuellen Charakter des Romans weiter untersuchen, indem literaturthe¬oretische Interpretationen des Intertextualitätsbegriffes hinzugezogen werden. Dazu werden Sammelbände von Literaturtheoretikern sowie Monographien, so z.B. von Gérard Genette, einem der markantesten Literaturtheoretiker auf dem Gebiet der Intertextualität, zur Analyse konsultiert. Diese Arbeit setzt sich zum Ziel, die Art und Weise, wie Ian McEwan intertextuelle Referenzen benutzt, sowie ihre theoretische Verankerung und damit literarische Bedeutung herauszuarbeiten. Aufgrund des limitierten Umfangs dieser Arbeit kann nicht auf alle intertextuellen Referenzen des an solchen so reichhaltigen Werks McEwans eingegangen werden; innerhalb der vorliegenden Arbeit soll jedoch trotzdem einen Kategorisierungsversuch unternommen und an¬hand ausgewählter Beispiele die Natur des von McEwan gewählten Intertextualitätstypus analysiert werde. Hierzu soll nach einer einleitenden Darstellung des Autors, seinen prägnanten biografischen Angaben sowie einer kurzen Vorstellung des Inhalts und Kontexts seines Romans eine Definition von Postmodernismus folgen
