Und Wahlkampfzeiten sind vermutlich die Höhepunkte politischer Kommunikation. Bereits in den 1990er Jahren wurden dafür erste Online-Wahlkampagnen in Deutschland getestet, aber erst mit dem "Obama-Hype" des Jahres 2008 tat sich eine neue Dimension des Internet-Wahlkampfes auf (Güldenzopf 2009: 5). Das Internet übt bezüglich Information, Wähleransprache und Mobilisierung entscheidenden Einfluss auf die gesamte politische Wahlkampagne aus, weil es vielfältige Formen der politischen Kommunikation zeit- und raumunabhängig sowie schnell und kostengünstig ermöglicht (Zimmermann 2006: 22). Nach einer Phase der Vorüberlegungen und des Experimentierens mit den Möglichkeiten des Web 2.0 haben sich nun auch deutsche Parteien im Bundestagswahlkampf 2009 entschieden, aktiv diese Potenziale zu nutzen und dabei auf verschiedene Tools, die das Internet bietet, zurückzugreifen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll daher auf ein Beispiel dieses Web 2.0-Wahlkampfes konkret eingegangen werden: Die Veränderungen im größten sozialen Netzwerk Deutschlands, dem StudiVZ (Studentenverzeichnis), im Zuge des Bundestagswahlkampfes 2009. Nach einer kurzen Vorstellung des Unternehmens und seiner Dienstleistung folgt eine theoretische Betrachtung der bisherigen Entwicklung in diesem speziellen Bereich des Internets sowie der gegenüberstehenden Standpunkte der sogenannten Internetoptimisten und Internetpessimisten. Danach werden die beobachteten Entwicklungen bezüglich des Bundestagswahlkampfes 2009 im StudiVZ beschrieben und die sich dadurch ergebenden Möglichkeiten analysiert.
