Das Internet und im Besonderen Social Media nimmt in unserer heutigen Gesellschaft eine immer bedeutsamere Rolle ein. Es liegt an den Unternehmen, dieses Instrument marketingtechnisch auszunutzen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, das Thema Internet und Social Media genauer zu untersuchen und zu beleuchten. Dazu wird das Internet-Nutzungsverhalten anhand eines standardisierten Fragebogens untersucht. Die hierdurch gewonnen Ergebnisse sollen marketingtechnische Erkenntnisse über den Social Media Auftritt des Unternehmens liefern und folglich als Handlungsempfehlungen skizziert werden. Für Unternehmen hat Social Media eine immer bedeutendere Rolle. So werden damit unter anderem die Ziele, den Bekanntheitsgrad zu erhöhen, die Kundenzufriedenheit und Kundenbindung zu steigern, Leads zu generieren und das Empfehlungsmarketing durchzuführen, verfolgt. Facebook, Instagram und Twitter sind die größten Internet-Plattformen, die es gibt. Ein Großteil der weltweiten Unternehmen greift auf sie zurück, aber es spielt bei Weitem keine Rolle, die größten Plattformen zu nutzen, sondern viel eher die Plattformen, auf denen die eigenen und potenziellen Kunden aktiv sind.
