Examensarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Musik - Sonstiges, Note: bestanden, Universität Potsdam (Musik und Musikpädagogik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit Jahren befindet sich die Musikbranche in einem Wandel. Sie beklagt die immer weiter sinkenden Einnahmen durch Tonträgerverkäufe und kämpft gegen die Urheberrechtsverletzungen, die ihr durch illegale Downloads im Internet und Raubkopien einen Umsatzeinbruch in diesem Bereich gebracht haben. Für den jungen Musiker scheint das Internet aber auf den ersten Blick vorteilhafter zu sein. Ihm werden Dienste angeboten, für die früher kostenintensiv viele Menschen zuständig waren. Gemeint sind Internetportale wie MySpace, YouTube, Facebook und Onlinestores zum Verkauf von non-physikalischen und physikalischen Tonträgern wie iTunes, Musicload oder Amazon. Dem Musiker stehen die meisten diese Dienste sogar kostenlos zur Verfügung. Tim Renner sagte in seinem Buch "Kinder, der Tod ist gar nicht so schlimm" schon im Jahre 2004 "Der Markt steht prinzipiell jedem offen." Dieser Wandel beinhaltet aber durchaus nicht nur Vorteile, sondern auch Risiken. In den Medien werden immer wieder Urheberrechtsverletzungen beklagt, die dem geistigen Eigentum stark geschadet haben. Besonders der illegale Downloadbereich florierte in den letzten Jahren. Diesbezüglich sollen aufgrund des Urheberrechts rechtliche Grundsätze erklärt werden. Diese Arbeit soll den Wandel der Musikindustrie und des Internets mit seinen Chancen und Risiken aus der Sichtweise eines sich selbst vermarktenden Musikers ohne Plattenvertrag untersuchen. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Arbeit liegt auf dem Musiker zum vermarkten seines geistigen Eigentums, aber auch andere Tätigkeitsfelder sollen von den Erfahrungen dieser Arbeit Erkenntnisse ziehen können, denn auch sie sind auf Öffentlichkeitsarbeit angewiesen.
