Mediale Darstellungen verfestigen dieses Bild täglich auf multiplen Ebenen. Chancengleichheit und Individualität sind ein hoch anzustrebendes Ziel der Gesellschaft. In der Realität lassen sich jedoch zu oft Ausgrenzungen und Ungleichheiten erkennen. Doch was heißen diese Begriffe überhaupt, über die dauernd ge-sprochen wird? Wer bestimmt was unter (Multi-)Kultur verstanden wird, wer in unserem Land leben darf und wer als Deutscher oder Ausländer verstanden wird? Differenzen greifen auch dort, wo ihnen einen Namen gegeben wird. So kann sich das Andere der Gesellschaft etablieren. Normalität kann es nicht geben, bewegt sich doch jedes Individuum in seiner Lebenswelt mit unterschiedlichsten Hintergründen, Wirklichkeiten, Normen und Denkmustern. Begriffe wie Ausländer, Integration, Flüchtlinge, Jugend und Kultur erwecken den Anschein einer festen Definition zu entstammen. Tatsächlich herrscht eine um sich greifende Uneinigkeit darüber, was speziell und im Detail unter diesen Konstrukten verstanden wird. Die misslingenden Versuche eine einheitliche Definition dieser Begriffe zu schaffen, lässt eine kritische Auseinandersetzung der Gesellschaft und insbesondere der Menschen in erziehenden Positionen unumgänglich werden. Pädagogen scheinen in ihren Arbeitsfeldern unentwegt zwischen verschiedensten Kulturen vermitteln zu müssen. Vorur-teilen und Stereotypen kann nur ihre Macht entzogen werden, indem ihre Legitimation hin-terfragt und gegebenenfalls falsifiziert werden kann.
