Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Institut für Deutsche Literatur), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Roman "Die Enden der Parabel" von Thomas Pynchon bietet sich zu einer Untersuchung unter dem Medienaspekt geradezu an. Sowohl das Erzählverfahren als auch die Gestaltung der Romanwelt sind von der technischen Medienentwicklung beeinflußt, wobei besonders die filmischen Elemente, welche in den Roman integriert sind, eine tragende Rolle spielen. Einige Literaturwissenschaftler gehen sogar so weit, daß sie "Die Enden der Parabel" mit einem Film gleichsetzen. Bezüglich jener These kann man jedoch nur von einer unangemes-senen Kategorienverwechslung ausgehen. Es handelt sich hier um Literatur, nicht um Film, aber um Literatur in einer medial geprägten Gesellschaft. Die Hausarbeit widmet sich in erster Linie dem Medium Film, sowohl auf allgemeiner E-bene als auch in bezug zu den filmischen Techniken und Anspielungen auf verschiedene Filme im Roman. In diesem Zusammenhang spielt Pynchons Pornographiebegriff im Hinblick auf die Parallelisierung von Technik und Kunst eine besondere Rolle, wie im weiteren belegt werden soll. Darüber hinaus geht es um den Einfluß der Medien auf Erfahrung, Erinnerung und Geschichtsbewußtsein. Zum Schluß sollen die Fragen nach einer Reflexion des Mediums Film im Roman und einer möglichen Medienkritik erörtert werden. Die medientheoretische Fundierung der Hausarbeit speist sich in erster Linie aus dem Bereich der "Apparate-Theorien", wie Analysen bezeichnet werden, die den Medienbegriff nach dem Vorbild technischer Apparate gewinnen und sich vornehmlich auf die Entwicklung der elektronischen Medien beziehen; im besonderen: Marshall McLuhan, Friedrich A. Kittler, Villém Flusser und Paul Virilio.
