About the Book

IntroductionThe complications of Diabetes mellitus are related to glycaemic control. Normoglycaemia or near normoglycaemia is the desired, but often elusive, goal for most patients. Regardless of the level of hyperglycaemia, improvement in glycaemic control will lower the risk of diabetes complications. Consumption of the leaves of the insulin plant has been claimed to achieve glycaemic control and hence, we have planned the present cross sectional study in diabetic patients. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that affects 20.8 million Americans. The trouble begins when blood glucose levels become elevated. This is due to a lack of sufficient insulin production, or the body failing to recognize and use the insulin properly. Very serious health complications can result from diabetes, especially if left untreated.Glycation is one unwelcomed result of elevated blood glucose. By the same process that allows food to brown in an oven, sugar molecules in the body may bind with proteins to form advanced glycation end products (AGEs). While usually benign, high levels of AGEs can lead to nerve and organ damage, elevated cholesterol levels, and even sexual dysfunction. If you have been told that you have diabetes, you probably have many questions about how to care for yourself, how your physician will care for you, and whether you can expect to lead a normal life with the disease.DiabeticThis is an introductory handbook that will teach you some basics about the diabetes so that you can immediately start to control it and to work with your physician's instructions in optimal ways. If you are the spouse or parent of one who has been diagnosed as having diabetes, this article will provide many helpful hints and valuable information with which you can help someone you love lead a more normal, productive, and happy life.Although this book is not indented to be a complete encyclopedia of information on diabetes, it will give you additional facts about the disease and important guidelines for daily living with diabetes. It is important that you learn as much as you can about diabetes. Some diseases can be treated and controlled just by regularly taking prescription medication. Diabetes is different; it requires somewhat more cooperation and active participation on your part. For example, controlling diabetics may require that you may serious attention to your eating habits and their regularity that you change your smoking and drinking habits, lose weight, exercise more, and perhaps use an injected or oral treatment.Additionally, if you are a female of childbearing age, you will have to pay careful attention to the possibility of becoming pregnant and receive special care during your pregnancy to help assure you of delivering a healthy infant.Aim Of The Study: Analysis of glycaemic control in diabetic patients who have been consuming the leaves of the insulin plant and to know the adverse effects/ benefits of insulin plant leaf consumption.
