Das Klassenmusizieren als Methode und Modell des schulischen Musikunterrichts hat sich längst bundesweit etabliert. Dabei steht die wachsende quantitative Bedeutung dieses Ansatzes in einem Missverhältnis zur geringen Zahl der Evaluierungsstudien, obwohl die eingesetzten finanziellen, personellen und zeitlichen Ressourcen eigentlich eine Prozess- und Erfolgskontrolle zwingend erforderten, vor allem hinsichtlich der langfristigen Wirkungen des Klassenmusizierens. Lässt sich im Klassenverband überhaupt eine fundierte Instrumentaltechnik vermitteln? Welche Probleme entstehen bei der späteren Reintegration in den regulären Musikunterricht? Auf welche Weise beeinflussen Instrumentenwahl und Lehrmethodik die musikalischen Präferenzen der Jugendlichen? In einer mehrjährigen Studie evaluierte der Autor den Streicherklassenunterricht bei Pionieren des Klassenmusizierens in Deutschland und analysierte die Biographien von Absolventen. Als Konsequenz aus seinen Ergebnissen plädiert Arendt für eine Reform des Musikunterrichts und ermutigt heutige und künftige Musiklehrer, an ihren Schulen das Klassenmusizieren einzuführen. About the Author: Gerd Arendt studierte Musikpädagogik und Gitarre an der Universität der Künste in Berlin. Als ausübender Musiker (Gitarrenduo / Band) erschienen von ihm zahlreiche Aufnahmen. Seit 1993 arbeitet er als Journalist für öffentlich-rechtliche und private Fernsehsender. Bis heute hat er mehr als 400 Reportagen aus allen Teilen der Welt veröffentlicht. 2009 wurde er mit der vorliegenden Arbeit zum Dr. phil. promoviert. Sein musikpädagogischer Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist die Unterrichtsforschung.
