About the Book

By Dr.Rajan Sankaran (Completely corrected and revised Second Edition) In this book, which opened up the Plant Kingdom like never before, Dr.Sankaran provides a framework of how the Plant Kingdom can be classified and understood. He traces the common sensaton of each family and shows how this sensation can be seen in the remedies in that family. The remedies are differentiated by the miasm to which they belong. Review With the two volumes we have a total of 983 pages consisting of the following chapters: Part I Concepts, Part II Families and, finally, Part III Tables. Part I : Introduction to Plant Kingdoms, Development in the last two years, A new approach to case taking, A simple list of questions to case taking, and My concept of miasms. Part II : Plant families in alphabetical order starting with the Anacardiaceae and ending with the Violales. We find the remedies belonging to a particular family, their common names, the connection between members of the family, description of the remedies, their active or passive reactions, their compensations, their sensations, the miasm they belong to and relevant cases. ( Just this part is worth reading the book). Part III : Table of sensation and the periodic tables of miasms and remedies. His initial intention was to include the work on sensations as a chapter in this book, but due to the vastness of the information, this is going to be a separate book. There is also information in the introduction on case analysis, in which he introduces some interesting concepts. 1, Sensation and action (not function!) are equal and opposite, 2. The opposite is equally true of whatever is said. 3. There is no one or nothing out there other than my-self. If these sentences puzzle you, do not worry. It is well explained. These concepts actually are so interesting because they go beyond the realm of homeopathy yet are very applicable for homeopathy. Especially, in the introduction we witness the probing mind of the author and the never ceasing questions. Rajan Sankaran himself emphasizes the fact that this work is not a final answer. He hesitated even to bring it out, but was convinced by experienced colleagues that there was enough valuable and workable information. I fully agree with that, not in the least due to the clean explanations. The hardest part of a system to me are always the finer nuances is it really that sensation, and if so, which remedy of the family and to which miasm does it belongs? In short, the application of the information in our daily practice, where the patient plays freely with the method and all that seemed to clear on paper isn t suddenly so clear anymore. I often think that the person who developed the method is the only real master of the method (which should not remain the case, of course). For this reason, and many others (periodic table, families, classification, predictability of unknown remedies, etc.) we find similarities between Sankaran s and Jan Scholten s work. So it is not surprising and very justified that there is a foreword by Jan Scholten in this book. Along with Jan, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to both student and experienced homeopaths. Indeed Jan, this is a must . --Reviewed - Homoeopathic Links, 1/2003.In reviewing this book, I have decided not to veil my delight in the author's development as investigator, thinker and homeopathic prescriber. Occasionally reviews adopt an academic stance, sometimes appraising what does not seem to me to matter. I shall not be commenting upon the literary style, or the quality of the paper and the binding (which as it happens, is pretty good). Rather, I shall confine myself to what I think really matters : the ideas and their homeopathic application. These, to be appreciated in the full, need to be set within the context of the spirit of discovery, which so obviously delights the author. For Rajan Sankaran, the journey appears to be as important as the outcome revealing t

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
