Sie ergründet, ob ein optimal gestalteter Innovationsprozess ein komparativer Konkurrenzvorteil und somit Schlüsselfaktor für nachhaltigen, wirtschaftlichen Erfolg sein kann. Die Erkenntnisse von Andrea Zajicek in ihrer Diplomarbeit von 2008 "Interaktives Innovationsmanagement in Netzwerken: Prozessmodell und dessen Umsetzung mittels eBusiness" bilden die Basis dieser Arbeit. Die zentrale Fragestellung lautet: Können komparative Konkurrenzvorteile erlangt werden, indem der Prozess des interaktiven Innovationsmanagements in Netzwerken mit Hilfe des Konzeptes der Innovation Intermediaries durch Social Web Werkzeuge unterstützt wird? Einleitend werden die grundlegenden Begriffe wie ´komparativer Konkurrenzvorteil´ und ´Innovation´ näher betrachtet und abgegrenzt, und es wird gezeigt, welche maßgebliche Bedeutung die Innovation für den Unternehmenserfolg hat. Weiters wird erklärt, was ´Innovation Intermediaries´ sind und welche Aufgaben sie haben. Im Anschluss daran wird erläutert, welche Bedeutung der Ansatz der Open Innovation bzw. der darauf aufbauende Prozess des interaktiven Innovationsmanagement in Netzwerken haben. Auch wird anhand des Prozessmodells erklärt, wie der Prozess funktioniert und aus welchen Teilaufgaben er besteht. Basierend auf diesen Grundlagen wird gezeigt, dass Innovation Intermediaries besser als andere Instrumente der Open Innovation geeignet sind, den Prozess des interaktiven Innovationsmanagements in Netzwerken zu unterstützen.
