About the Book

Inky is a riveting work of speculative fiction that imagines just what might happen if applied science truly found itself freed from the laboratory and let loose in the the real world. The labs in question, headed by Paul Duggin and Abe Zifkin at the University of California, Berkely, are at work on a non-addictive alternative to Morphine to assist the recovery of wounded service personnel. It makes for a perilous web of intrigue when the transition of the labs producing and testing Enkephalin to private hands assumes aspects of opeing Pandora's Box, even as a lab rat named George steals away undetected into the outside world With echoes of the science fiction of Theodore Stugeon, Inky imagines scenarios that are simultaneously astonishing and frightening, as a humane initiative intended to enhance medical treatment suddenly fuels a furious scramble to control a highly desirable designer drug with an unforeseen side effect askin to extrasensory perception. Inky is a provacative, ultimately hopeful, tale that explores rat problems, human problems, and problems with government, while treading the murky middle ground that lies between good and evil.
About the Author: Thank you for turning over this book to find out about the author. My dad was raised in Fresno, California by my Grandmother who raised her three children by herself as a widow. Grandma kept them busy and out of trouble through education. My dad had high hopes that he would go to the Naval Academy where he wanted to learn to fly. But that all changed when he meet my mother, Lorraine. He changed his major to Poli-Sci/History. My dad had many jobs and several careers in a variety of fields. He worked as a "Canner" in a peach factory, a dishwasher at the VA Hospital, a social worker for the elderly, a traveling suits salesman, an estimator and electrician for an electronics company and an attorney in Workers' Compensation. I remember when I was very little watching him walk down the aisle to get his Jurist Doctorate degree. He did all this to help support his own growing family. When my Grandmother started to become ill about eighteen plus years ago he moved back in with her to care for her. As her illness progressed, he was her everyday caretaker and his only outlet was writing stories. This book is the first book that he wrote and my husband and I encouraged him to finish the last 100 pages of this story. My father and I call this book, "My College Tuition". This book was an idea that he has been kicking around for many years. With my older sister's help, Charis, who graduated from Berkeley with a Geneticist degree, they developed the idea of this book. I hope you enjoy this Science Fiction story about the evolution of man with E.S.P. If you like this book, please tell a friend. We would like your support in paying off my College Debt. There will be other books coming to you from my father.....He had many years in the basement taking care of Grandma.
