'Double Defiances explores the theme of bravery, independent thought, loneliness, the meaning of responsibility and adherent to values under difficult circumstances and while facing adversary situations in life. It is a science fiction story which centres on one man's decisions in the face of choices which nobody would ever want to take, but which sometimes force themselves upon people. 'Double Defiance' is a study of behaviour resulting from extreme situations and the considerations going on in the human mind when faced with having to make choices concerning life and death, for oneself and for others. It sheds light on the concept of real bravery and on what it means to stand for something out of choice in contrast to doing what is opportunistic. Finally, 'Double Defiance' looks at the question of what a human is willing to do out of free choice versus fulfilling demands backed by social pressure and hierarchy and the order of importance that different values can have in determining what actions people take. 'The Battle for Earth' is just what the title tells: a Science Fiction novel telling the story of the battle for earth. It is galactic history from the mouth of a veteran of these events which shook and changed the face of earth forever. It tells the story of how it got to that point, how the events looked like from the persecutive of a volunteer enlisted reserve fighter, how it ended, and what the outcome and repercussions were. It features a good deal of action, some emotional scenes, a little to think about here and there - only for those who are inclined to it, without the attempt of enforcing anything upon the reader - and lots of descriptions who things might look in a distant future, many centuries ahead of our present times. Because of the language, it's a rather slow reading material, and it's meant to rather create pictures than to be a page-turner for rapid consumption. It's a comparatively short story, though nevertheless complete, with beginning and end, and lots in between. 'The Leader's Return' is a 'silent' science fiction novel. It lives from the descriptions of the different characters, their thoughts and motivations, their history, and their objectives in life. There is very little outside, worldly action, and what is there of it takes place as memories, recollections, remembrances. The amount of new technology described is likewise fairly limited and it does not take much of a role either. The life on different inhabited planets and the living conditions of different people in a future where the human races has spread across the galaxy and settled on a great number of worlds provide the background for the story which lives from its main characters. Different future societies with their unique settings, political systems, social relations form the stage on which the characters of the novel live through their scenes, largely in their memories. The book is almost contemplative and a slow read for an audience who likes to follow humans in their thoughts, dreams, as they pursue their dreams, and witnessing them as they come with the challenges of their lives.
