En el presente libro sobre el Director de Cine, Teatro, Radio y Televisión, es una revisión de la mayoría de su filmografía, por lo menos la disponible en México. La perspectiva que he tratado de seguir es haciendo una reseña de estas películas, tratando de añadir una serie de reflexiones, la mayoría en el contexto de su biografía, para lo cual hay dos libros claves: "Linterna Mágica", que es la autobiografía, que el propio Ingmar Bergman escribió cando estaba en la sesta década de su vida. Esta obra da una visión "a vuelo de pájaro", de los orígenes del artista, de su tenacidad en el trabajo del teatro y cine, de sus problemas que el estado sueco le ocasionó, por una posible evasión de impuestos, y las relaciones pareja, y su modo de vincularse a sus hijos. Esto, a mi juicio es la parte medular de la obra cinematográfica de este genio. Las preguntas típicas de la filosofía, quizás un poco en el terreno de la metafísica: ¿Quién soy? ¿Existe dios? ¿qué es la música? ¿Hay un motivo central de vida? ¿A dónde vamos al morir? ¿Por qué hay que tener una relación de pareja? ¿Por qué eran los padres tan rígidos en la educación? ¿Por qué nos castigaban severamente si nos querían? Lo mas interesantes de Ingmar Bergman, además del aspecto artesanal en sus películas, es que no vaciló en filmar pequeños fragmentos de su vida, de su relación con el padre, Pastor luterano, capellán de la familia Real Sueca, que educó a sus hijos con golpes, perdones, y otras cosas poco agradables. Pero en la otra faceta, estaba el hombre sabio, con humor, que quería a su manera a su esposa, la madre de Bergman, Karin. Bergman fue un genio, pero al mismo tiempo un hombre de su época, que salió delante de sus estilos conflictivos de personalidad, por su entrega al arte. Situación con la cual explicaba, porque era un padre-flojo, es decir con poca presencia física con sus hijos, pero siempre los mantuvo económicamente. Escribo este libro, con admiración y respeto hacia uno de los directores de cine que mas admiro, y de que hoy en día he aprendido mucho, su forma de ser profesionalmente me ha cambiado, como psiquiatra, recomiendo ciertas escenas de sus películas, que son ilustradoras de la compulsión a la repetición y malestar hacia las personas que queremos y cuidamos de ellas. Este libro es para que no se olvide la obra de Ingmar Bergman, el director que filmó sus sueños.
