This brings us to the history of some theories that allows the reader to understand how this issue was brought to light, its investigation, research and evidence based trials and surveys that worked. Spirituality and health also played a huge part in coping with ADHD with individual faith and diet helping sufferers to constructively and positively deal with it. Survival strategies of children and teenagers is also explained to balance the coping mechanisms that are existing which then takes us to Temper Tantrum that are exhibited by individuals with ADHD. The Author gave detailed account of temper tantrums in Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder sufferers that uses this as a tool to get what they want or express their dissatisfaction of events. They use temper tantrums to either cause anti-social behaviour because they are not happy with what they are being offered or just to cause trouble to get what they are looking for. Anxiety Disorder is one of the associated disorders that comes with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. The term anxiety covers four aspects of experiences that an individual may have. This include Mental apprehension, physical tension, physical symptoms and dissociative anxiety. Anxiety disorder is divided into generalized anxiety disorder, phobic disorder and panic disorder. Each has its own characteristics and symptoms and they require different treatment. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder can also occur with ADHD and shares many of its characteristics. Substance use Disorders is also relative to ADHD. Adolescents and adults with ADHD are at high risk of developing substance use problem, most commonly with alcohol and cannabis. The reason for this may be due to an altered reward pathway in the brains of ADHD individuals. This makes the evaluation and treatment of ADHD more difficult, with serious substance misuse problems usually treated first due to their greater risks. This book also throws light on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is thought to be effective for the treatment of a variety of conditions, including mood, anxiety, personality, eating, substance abuse, tic, and psychotic disorders. The Breakdown of treatment include Orientation, Commitment to treatment, crisis response and safety planning, Means restriction, survival kit, reasons for living card, model of suicidality, treatment journal, lessons learned, skills focus, skill development worksheets, coping cards and many more.
