Da Arbeit in der heutigen Zeit ein wichtiger und unausweichlicher Bestandteil des Lebens ist, wird Lebenszufriedenheit in hohem Maße durch Arbeitszufriedenheit mitbestimmt. Dabei ist jeder Mensch anders und einzigartig. In der Anreizgestaltung im Arbeitsumfeld wird diese Tatsache heutzutage jedoch kaum berücksichtigt. In Unternehmen werden die Mitarbeiter dementsprechend oft pauschal und einheitlich durch einfache, meist monetäre Anreize motiviert. Die Individualität findet dabei keine Beachtung. Dies ist kritisch, da Menschen mit unterschiedlichen Persönlichkeiten und Charakteren unterschiedliche Anreize benötigen, die sie zufrieden stellen. Primäres Ziel dieser Arbeit ist deshalb Handlungsempfehlungen an Personalbeauftragte zur optimalen Anreizgestaltung zu entwickeln, um die Arbeitszufriedenheit zu erhöhen. Abgeleitet wird dies von einer Untersuchung der möglichen Unterschiede der Anreizwirkung in Abhängigkeit von Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen. Hierzu werden zunächst in einem theoretischen Teil die beiden Themen Arbeitszufriedenheit und Persönlichkeit, mit besonderem Fokus auf Herzberg und Big Five, vorgestellt. Darauf folgt die Analyse einzelner Persönlichkeitstypen der Big Five im Hinblick auf Unterschiede in den Motivatoren und Hygienefaktoren nach Herzberg. Die Arbeit schließt mit daraus abgeleiteten Gestaltungsempfehlungen zur Erhöhung der Arbeitszufriedenheit.
