Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt sich die Aufgabe, eine Reihe wichtiger Erzählungen Hermann Hesses seit dem "Demian" (1919) einer systematischen Analyse durch die Psychologie C. G. Jungs zu unterziehen. Sie verfolgt dabei ein dreifaches Erkenntnisziel: Sie will den Einfluss der Analytischen Psychologie auf das dichterische Werk von Hermann Hesses mittlerer und später Schaffensperiode genauer abklären. Sie will diese Erzählungen mittels der von Jung entworfenen Archetypentheorie analysieren und interpretieren. Sie will den inhaltlichen Wandel der nämlichen archetypischen Grundstrukturen durch die einzelnen Werke hindurch verfolgen und aufzeigen, dass damit eine bestimmte Veränderung in den psychologischen, anthropologischen und ethischen Aussagen der Dichtungen einhergeht, die für das Verständnis von Hesses oeuvre von zentraler Bedeutung ist.
About the Author: Dr. Günter Baumann wurde 1953 in Herrlingen in der Nähe von Ulm geboren und hat in Blau-beuren seine Kindheit und Jugend verbracht. Nach dem Abitur studierte er in Freiburg/Breisgau Germanistik und Wissenschaftliche Politik und schloss nach dem Staatsexamen sein Studium mit einer Dissertation über Hermann Hesse und C. G. Jung ab. Danach arbeitete er hauptberuflich als Gymnasiallehrer für Deutsch, Politik und Ethik. Daneben veröffentlichte er mehrere Bücher über literarische und philosophische Themen und hielt über 200 Vorträge in der Erwachsenenbildung, die ihn bis in die Schweiz, nach Polen und Indien führten. Mehrere seiner Schriften sind auch ins Englische und Japanische übersetzt. Heute lebt er als pensionierter Oberstudienrat, Vortragsredner, Autor und Kleinverleger in Balingen (Württemberg).
