About the Author: Aleta grew up in the racially segregated neighborhood near Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. At age four, she found her passions for books, music and sports at Attucks. She went to the Madam Walker building on Indiana Avenue for movies, concerts and the hair salon at the Madam Walker training center. Aleta was a member of the Shortridge High School Daily Echo newspaper staff. It was one of the few daily high school newspapers in the country. Later, she wrote an editorial column for the Indianapolis Star for three years on health and wealth topics and appeared on NBC and FOX 59 news segments. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. degree and from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with an MBA degree in Finance. In the 1970 - 1980s, she was a trail blazer in the corporate world of business. She overcame racism, sexism, ageism, the gender pay gap, and the "glass ceiling" to become an entrepreneur and author. In 1991, she presented her paper, "International Marketing Approach for Women and Small Business Owners" at the World Conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovative Change in Singapore. She is the author of two financial empowerment books - Women and Money and The Value Book.
