About the Book

In Season Cooking is filled with 156 recipes celebrating fresh, seasonal cooking, using regionally local ingredients whenever possible. Every recipe has eco-tips and environmental stewardship quotes, and the book is adorned with beautiful photos. The cookbook is user-friendly and the recipes are not complicated. Each recipe includes a nutritional analysis. Recipes were chosen based on the author's personal guidelines that include: using high quality, whole foods, mostly vegetables, fruits and grains; choosing high quality food that is currently ripe in cook's geographical area; and moderation above all things!
About the Author: Ann Schrader has lived in Bozeman, Montana, for eight years with her husband, Rusty Felton, and their two black labs, Sophie and Tex. Ann and Rusty have two grown children. Ann was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. When she's not cooking, she works in her gardens, raising organic vegetables and fruits while fighting off voles and protecting her Brussels sprouts from deer! To improve her skills, she became a Master Gardener through Montana State University Extension Department. Ann has published one other cookbook, Healthy Yummies for Young Tummies: Nutritious Recipes for Children and Their Families, by Rutledge Hill Press. Living in an agricultural setting, Ann is surrounded by farms and ranches and inspired by the beauty of the landscape. She is very concerned for the earth and knows we are all part of a bigger community and greatly influenced by our deeply held beliefs. She hopes that her book will be read and used by diverse groups of cooks and eaters, and remind the readers we can't eat good food without good soil, and to do that, we must take care of the earth. Ms. Schrader received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Services from the University of Northern Colorado; and a Masters of Arts in Religion Degree, with an Emphasis on Pastoral Care and Counseling, from Iliff School of Theology. Ann has had a varied career and for the last twenty years has served in the nonprofit sector as an executive director of several local, statewide and regional organizations and now is a board development and organizational management consultant.
