Folk have always told me that I look like my Dad. I cannot argue. I do believe that I have brothers that look more like him than I. Never-the-less, I have heard it said more than once, "The Bosley's have some strong genes!" This is one of the reasons I was inspired to pen the title, In My Father's Image. In fact I like to say, the Lord gave me the title. The play on, In My Father's Image does not stop there. You should value that in addition to my earthly father, I recognize a heavenly Father. In this vein I believe that the words of the Bible are true and as such, I believe that we have all been created in God's image. He is also the Father that I reference. So you can then appreciate that this is also a strong basis for the title. This anthology represents the variations and degrees of freedom and growth of my writing since the early 80's. For over 30 years I have written about work, church, the word, God, society, friends and family. In it I believe that I have found a way to give voice to both joy and pain. Yet find a way to express some of the nuances of the plan, purpose and handiwork of the Lord. The plan is to actually introduce you to some of my most valued words and poems along the way of each chapter. I also like to think that some of the poetic works will not need an introduction. Time will tell. You should also understand that each of the chapter headings incorporate a word that roughly translates as image. So in this way I have been further moved to make each chapter a reflection of the whole. The chapter headings follow the title flow in this vein: picture, representation, icon, figure, likeness, illustration, reflection, copy, look, appearance, vision, idea, view, aura, and impression. In other words they are all words synonymous with the word image. That image, picture, or look is then used to further explain the direction or leaning of the poems in the given section. It also helps to show some of my Father's image on an area of my life. This is not "Rocket Science" I try to save that for my other work. In this way I believe that the poems each follow the overarching theme of image.
