Dabei wird zu Beginn auf Basis von einschlägiger Literatur in das Thema eingeführt sowie die Grundlagen des Change Managements erläutert. Darauf aufbauend werden die beschriebenen Herausforderungen genauer betrachtet sowie mögliche Ursachen und Gegenmaßnahmen diskutiert. In diesem Schritt findet eine literaturbasierte Darstellung der Herausforderungen statt, welche durch die Ergebnisse einer aktuellen Studie unterlegt wird. Anschließend werden einzelne Kritikpunkte aufgeführt. Zum Abschluss wird die Aktualität des Instruments Change Management angesichts der Disruption durch die sich dynamisch entwickelnde Unternehmenswelt hinterfragt und ein erweiternder Ansatz vorgestellt. Die wirtschaftliche Belastung durch die Corona-Krise, die Megatrends Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung, der steigende Effizienzdruck im Zuge der Globalisierung - all diese Entwicklungen drängen Unternehmen zu einem strategischen Wandel. Gleichzeitig wird Stillstand mit dem schrittweisen Verlust der eigenen Wettbewerbsstärke gleichgesetzt, wie eine Studie der Unternehmensberatung Porsche Consulting zum Thema Change Management in Deutschland, von November 2020, zeigt. Allerdings erreichen nur ca. zwanzig Prozent aller strategischen Transformationen in deutschen Unternehmen das gewünschte Ergebnis. Die Zielerreichung der Veränderungsprozesse sicherzustellen, stellt eine Aufgabe des Change Managements dar, welche in vier von fünf Fällen offensichtlich nicht erfüllt wird.
