Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Allgemein, Note: 1,0, Technische Universität Darmstadt (Allgemeine Pädagogik und Berufspädagogik), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Hinsichtlich der beiden AutorInnen, welche im Fokus dieser Arbeit stehen, stellt sich an dieser Stelle eine wichtige Frage: Inwieweit lassen sich diese beiden Persönlichkeiten, einerseits Kant und andererseits Chua, und ihr Gedankengut zusammenbringen? Gerade dieser Aspekt wird Thema der vorliegenden Arbeit sein. Zu Beginn werde ich mich mit Kant und seiner verschriftlichten Vorlesung über die Erziehung aus dem Jahr 1803 befassen. Es wird versucht zu klären, welches Erziehungsziel bzw. ganzes Erziehungskonzept von ihm verfolgt wird und wie seine Vorstellungen von einer Umsetzung aussehen. An dieser Stelle sei, um Konfusion zu vermeiden, angemerkt, dass Kant in seiner Schrift die Begriffe Erziehung und Pädagogik synonym verwendet. Im Anschluss werden Chua sowie Inhaltliches zu ihrem Buch und ihre Erziehungsmethoden vorgestellt. In einem direkten Vergleich werden daraufhin beide AutorInnen und ihre Konzepte gegenübergestellt. Auf der einen Seite findet man Kant und die Vorstellung einer Erziehung hin zur Freiheit bzw. Moralität, auf der anderen Seite eine vieldiskutierte Erziehungsmethode, die fast nur aus Disziplin, Zwang und Drill besteht. Doch auch Kant fasst die Disziplin, wie wir später noch sehen werden, als wichtige Stufe in der Erziehung eines Kindes auf. Doch wie viel Disziplin ist zu viel oder gar kontraproduktiv für eine Erziehung zur moralischen Autonomie? Inwieweit unterscheiden sich die beiden pädagogischen Konzepte voneinander bzw. findet das pädagogische Ziel der Mündigkeit im Erziehungsmodell Chuas überhaupt Raum?
