Gabriel Gutnisky ejerce una tarea sostenida de divulgación de las artes visuales y sus contenidos, escribió durante muchos años sobre el arte en cartelera desde un medio gráfico y continúa haciéndolo desde otros espacios. En un contexto donde el mercado está ausente, el valor de sus palabras como crítico de arte tiene resonancias particulares. Su interlocución es ya una marca cultural debido a una lectura inteligente y generosa de obras y artistas que es tan inquietante como necesaria.
Este libro surge del material producido en esas instancias pero las trasciende ampliamente. Lejos ya de la nota periodística, propone una serie de ensayos que sobre una base historiográfica, ofrecen un análisis conceptual original, porque las obras se plantean como un conjunto de enigmas relacionados, en los cuales se integran aspectos políticos, socioculturales y estéticos. Gutnisky invita a estudiar procesos concretos locales en los que se señala cómo el espacio-tiempo mundializado no es uniforme, sine que está dotado de texturas y densidades diferenciales. Las palabras del crítico trasuntan su experiencia poética al dejar entrever la tensión propia de quien ha sido tocado como receptor; y revelan así aquello que lo incita a su tarea.

Gabriel Gutnisky nació en Córdoba en 1953. Discípulo de Rosalía Soneira y Norberto Cresta inició su carrera como artista plástico en 1969. Es Arquitecto recibido en la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba y miembro de la Asociación Nacional e Internacional de Críticos de Arte. Fue elegido Director de la Escuela de Artes de la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades de la U.N.C por cinco períodos consecutivos (1994-2004) y durante una década se desempeñó como crítico de arte en el diario La Voz del Interior (1991-2001 ). Docente-investigador de la U.N.C., actualmente es profesor en las Cátedras de lntroducción a la Plástica Experimental y Lenguaje Plástico Geométrico I.
