As we all know that adolescence is a point in life when physical and psychological
changes take place. According to Dorn and Biro (2011), these bodily changes take place starting
from puberty to early adulthood. The adolescence stage is most of the time associated with teenage life
when children start advancing in their way of life. The stage begins at different ages depending
on the gender of a person. For example; puberty starts as early as late childhood in females
and may start at a later age in males. It has been noticed that physical changes and cognition may
extend to the early twenties. Ata, Ludden, and Lally (2007) state that body image at this time
changes dramatically due to family, peers, and friends influences. Many other things change in
the body. This may include height and body physique. The idea of changes in the body has
raised a lot of controversies among many researchers and experts.
According to Larson and Wison (2004), the stage can also be seen as a time for physical
growth and advancement cognitively. In this stage, people start to advance in cognition and
thoughts become abstract and hypothetical in nature. According to Choudhury, Blakemore and
Charman (2006) the stage involves many developmental changes, especially cognitive
development. Many experts have made the concept better so as to understand the stage very well
in a better way. These experts have consulted many sources so as to have clear information about
the stage. The stage has been found to be so crucial in the life of every human. Though characterized
by a lot of confusion, it is a stage where many young people are prepared to become adults. For
this reason, a lot of effort is required from parents.
