Ein langes Bestehen ist jedoch kein Garant für Erfolg auf dem Spendenmarkt. Es mag zunächst deplatziert wirken, doch auf dem Markt für Spenden herrscht wachsende Konkurrenz. Obwohl - oder gerade weil - sich viele vornehmen, die Welt ein Stückchen besser zu machen, wächst der Wettbewerb um die für die Hilfe notwendigen Spenden. Ein wachsender Anteil zweckgebundener Spenden, Wertveränderungen wie Regionalisierung und der Rückgang der Kirchenbindung stellen die zur evangelischen Kirche gehörende Spendenorganisation "Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe" (DKH) vor Herausforderungen. Hinzu kommt, dass es durch den zahlenmäßigen Anstieg an wohltätigen Organisationen auch immer schwerer wird, sich von diesen in der Wahrnehmung der Spender zu differenzieren, das heißt sich selbst identifizierbar zu machen. An diesem Punkt setzt diese Arbeit an. Nach einer Kurzvorstellung der Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, gliedert sie sich in zwei Teile: Einen theoretischen und einen empirischen Teil. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden die für den zweiten Teil notwendigen Grundlagen zum Thema Identität von Organisationen vermittelt. Im empirischen Teil erfolgt dann eine Imageanalyse der Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. Grundlage hierfür ist eine öffentliche Personenbefragung. Zielsetzung ist es, erstens den Unterschied (Gap) zwischen dem gewünschten Soll-Image der Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (eng damit zusammenhängend die "Soll-Identität") und dem wahrgenommenen Ist-Image zu ermitteln. Zweitens, soll ermittelt werden, welches Soll-Bild die Spender von einer wünschenswerten Spendenorganisation haben. A
