Esa extraña petición remueve en Bennet algunas historias del pasado, como la culpa con la que convive desde hace años por la muerte de Lorraine, la joven amante con la que compartió algunas semanas de su vida. Bennet descubre que, al parecer, Angela Sullivan murió en un accidente de coche que acabó con el vehículo en las frías aguas del Sena, en París. Sin embargo, el cuerpo jamás fue encontrado.

Christian Bennet empieza a sospechar que la historia oficial es mentira, y que Angela sigue viva, ocultando su verdadera identidad en algún lugar. La gran incógnita estriba en averiguar dónde está y por qué se mantiene en la sombra.
