Seldom, if ever, since the formation of the great historical libraries formed by Brinley, Barlow, Menzies, Murphy, and Deane, has the opportunity been Offered to procure so many items of historical interest covering the entire range of American history, from the early Colonial period, to and including the period of Western adventure and the opening of the vast territory west of the Mississippi to the trade of the White settlers by the explorations of Lewis and Clark, and other famous explorers of the early nineteenth century.
