About the Book

A 17 ans, je découvrais la poésie de Rimbault, Verlaine et Baudelaire. Avant, j'écrivais souvent. De longues lettres à mes amis, ma famille, aux filles que je rencontrais... Un genre épistolaire comme une façon de me dire. Plus à l'aise ainsi que par la voix. Pour cela, je préférais chanter. Je composais mes airs et mes refrains à la guitare, célébrés sur les pelouses du lycée.

Je découvrais la métrique des mots, le lien entre leurs fréquences et celles des notes. En cherchant dans l'histoire, j'apprends les troubadours. La poésie chantée. La ballade et le rondeau. Et puis Ronsard et son Mignonne, allons voir si la rose... - Bien plus que des cours de classe, j'étais touché par ce que produisaient ces sons. Cette musique de la poésie racontait autant par sa mélodie que le sens qu'elle voulait transmettre. Ce n'était pas juste joli, c'était profond. L'orchestre tintait partout dans ma tête. Je lisais à voix haute dans ma chambre d'étudiant, comme si toutes ces harmonies médecines pénétraient mon corps et me faisaient du bien.

Il y avait un secret.

Le Dormeur du Val fut mon illumination. Dans le rythme, le choix des mots, la chute. Et puis Les fleurs du Mal d'un Beaudelaire halluciné qui posait là ses lettres comme les pots de peinture transforment la toile blanche du peintre en Cézanne, Rembrant ou Delacroix . Le crayon, jumeaux du pinceau.

Alors je suis allé rencontrer la poésie des peintres. Kandinsky le premier. Puis Sisley, Pollock, Picasso, Klein, Monnet, Cy Twombly...

Un choc créatif.

Une fulgurance qui va aussi m'envahir. Durant quelques mois j'ai composé ces poèmes. Une centaine dont quelques-uns vont suivre dans ce livre. Une éruption, parfois des batailles, tout ce qui venait comme je le recevais. J'avais 24 ou 25 ans. Puis, plus rien. Ou plutôt, autre chose.

A l'âge de 30 ans, dans le rayon poésies étrangères d'une Fnac à Paris, un nom m'interpelle: Emily Dickinson. Nouvelle fulgurance. Sa façon d'exprimer, de me transpercer était puissante. Je rencontrais une nouvelle âme soeur. Comme si je n'avais jamais quitté ses mots.

Alors, y avait-il un secret ?

Il y avait ce que j'avais ressenti et ma façon de l'écrire sans m'interdire. Certains diront le style. Je continue d'explorer la relation musicale du mot, ce mot parfait lorsqu'il dit, lorsqu'il sonne, lorsqu'il raconte une histoire encore plus forte associée à la musique d'un piano, d'une voix. Auteur-compositeur.

Aujourd'hui, j'écris ces chansons pour des éditeurs de musique, des producteurs ou des artistes en direct. Je les chante aussi parfois. J'ai expérimenté et appris sur les fréquences et l'harmonie. La relation du mot, de la note, leur musique commune. C'est en préparant un livre sur les parcours inspirants des acteurs du monde de la musique que je côtoie, que j'ai retrouvé toutes mes poésies de cette écriture post-adolescente - L'angle de ce livre en cours: pourquoi ont-ils réussit ? Quel est leur parcours ? Et y'a-t-il des procédés communs à toutes ces histoires ? Quelque chose à transmettre ?
