El descubrimiento y conquista del Nuevo Mundo trajo a esta tierras oleadas de aventureros y valerosos hombres europeos.Unos arribaron con el deseo de enriquecerse ràpidamentey otros con el afàn de adquirir glorias personales y regresar a sus paìses de orìgenes. Con ellos vinieron-junto a sus vicios y enfermedades- los logros de su cultura;este contacto introdujo en Europa nuestras cualidades y defectos, despues de una larga y convulsa interacciòn. Ya antes del descubrimiento, los portugueses exploraban en sus barcos las costas occidentales de Africa e iniciaron su influencia en las islas de Cabo Verde, tambìen se vincularon con los nativos de tierra firme, por otra parte tambien, exsistìa un incipiente tràfico de esclavos, que atravesaba el Sahara desde el Sudàn.Algunos negros eran llevados a la penìnsula ibèrica, cuando èsta era musulmana, caracterìstica costumbre que se mantuvo despùesde la reconquista de Espana. Por eso no era raro que en dicho paìs existieran negros esclavos y que algunos vinieran con los conquistadores al Nuevo Mundo, al inicio del descubrimiento. Una vez que en las Amèricas aumentò la necesidad de mano de obra barata, pues los indios de las islas antillanas fueron extinguidos casi en su totalidad, la metròpoli comprendiò las ventajas de la importaciònde esclavos africanos, hombres vigorosos y resistentes a diferentes climas y por lo tanto podrìan ser utilizados en las plantaciones y minas. Este hecho se tomò como algo natural, incluso en algunos paìses hasta se justificò, pues aludìan a una supuesta maldiciòn divina sobre la raza negra.Asi llegaron a nuestras regiones millones de nativos del Africa.Ellos trajeron sus lenguas, sus costumbres y creencias ancestrales, y aquì las fundieron con las de los amos, y asi surgiò una nueva cultura, un sincretismo, y una mezcla racial. En el caso de Cuba, la uniòn del cristiasnismo con las creencias africanas de tipo animista, fetichista, el culto a los antepasados, y los dioses reyes, originò la Regla de Ocha o Santeria, y mantuvo vivo el culto de Ifà, que en anterioridad fuera asimilado por los pueblos africanos, al mezclarse en esas tierras con las creencias locales. Ifà, la deidad del oràculo supremo, es adorado por los Babalawos o sacerdotes de su culto, quienes son curanderos, adivinos o consejeros y su mayor exponente es Orula, el representante de Ifà en la Tierra. Tambien existen otras reglas o cultos afrocubanos, pero, el culto de Ifà es el màs amplio y cuenta con mayor numero de seguidores en Cuba. Nuestra colecciòn afrocubana consta de cuatro libros, en Ifà y la creaciòn, abordamos el culto de Ifà, asì como su relaciòn con los Orichas y el cristianismo, comenzamos con el universo y nuestro sistema solar, las deidades que participaronen el desarrollo de la naturaleza y la especie humana desde sus inicios, su evolucion y objetivos en la vida. Tambièn se establece una cronologìa de la creaciòn y se explican diversos aspectos que no estan debidamente aclarados en el complejo religioso.La Filosofia de Ifà, es comparable a cualquier otra de las religiones que existen. En la segunda parte se aborda el descenso de Ifà a la tierra y la creaciòn del culto que lleva su nombre;su expansiòn por diversos puntos de la geografìa y el reencuentro con la Fe Cristiana en el transcurso de los siglos. Se han escrito buenos libros sobre este tema, en mi caso, soy practicante y estudioso de la religiòn legada por nuestros padres y abuelos, y por simple irradiaciòn espiritual sabemos que-de una forma u otra- en siglos pasados hemos vivido en estas tierras y hemos vivido en Africa y hemos seguido-de alguna u otra manera- durante todo este tiempo el perigrinaje de las razas humanas que conformaron el pueblo cubano. Como homenaje a estos ancestros y desde dentro, desde la òptica que perdiò su naciòn de origen debido a la cruel trata esclavista, y del que luchò por mantener viva su cultura y sus creencias, es que escribo esta obra Maferefùn, Olofin.
