Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Orientalistik / Sinologie - Islamwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (Seminar für Sprachen und Kulturen des Vorderen Orients - Islamwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Rationalismus im Islam, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Es gab zwei Probleme, die sowohl im Mittelalter als auch in der Renaissance diskutiert wurden: zum einen die Unsterblichkeit der Seele, zum anderen die Ewigkeit der Welt (vgl. Pomponazzi 1990: IX). Die averroistische Bewegung steht im Spiegel dieser Epoche, weil das Verhältnis zwischen Philosophie und Theologie einen zentralen Punkt in den philosophischen Debatten im Okzident und Orient im Mittelalter darstellt. Insbesondere die Unsterblichkeitslehre der Seele sorgt für heftige Kontroversen im christlichen Europa, welche Ibn Rusd in den Großen Kommentaren zu De Anima (Über die Seele, Aristoteles) elaboriert und wieder zur Diskussion stellt. Aristoteles' De Anima ist die erste Abhandlung der Antike, die sich dem Thema der Seele annimmt. Die averroisitsche Bewegung, welche Ibn Rusds Handschrift trägt, kann einen Zeitraum von vier Jahrzehnten beanspruchen (von ungefähr 1200 bis nach 1600 A.D). Der "Averroismus", häufiger "lateinischer Averroismus" (nach Renan) oder auch "heterodoxer Aristotelismus" steht nach Anke von Kügelgen (1994) für eine Reihe von Theorien, die nicht in Anbetracht der Offenbarung, sondern als Antwort auf Ibn Rusds Kommentierungen der Werke von Aristoteles rational und vielmehr philosophisch begründet sind. Da die Doktrin des ʿaqal (Intellekts) das Resultat jahrelanger Arbeit des Ibn Rusds an den Kommentaren des Werkes De Anima ist. Ibn Rusd war bekannt als der große Aristoteles Kommentator. Allerdings haben seine Ideen kaum bis keinen Widerhall in der islamischen Welt gefunden.
