About the Book

Professor Carrier deciphering ancient rolls discovers many things about the secret lives of the pharaohs. By the intervention of the Gods. One comes to life and arrives in England where he falls in love with a female Egyptologist. A son is born. who follows in his Mother's footsteps. The pharaoh should return to his tomb but the Gods, especially the female pones, take pity on him and, as there is a vacancy persuade Osiris to turn him into a God to dwell with them forever
About the Author: John Giffard. A retired police officer, discovered his ability to write late in life after accompanying a friend to the local poetry group where he was encouraged to try writing. His efforts were enthusiastically received by a wider public when he entered them in various magazines. In 2011 his Poem 'The Medal' was selected by a panel including Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate for inclusion in the bestselling anthology 'Heroes: A Hundred Poems by the New Generation of War Poets.' In collaboration with Geoffrey Tiney the illustrator he compiled his first book of poems, 'The Poetry Circle.' followed by a short play in verse 'A Christmas Carol' based on the novel by Charles Dickens. He turned his attentions to creative writing, composing a number of short stories which were displayed on the ABCtales website where they were critically assessed by other authors. Five of his stories were 'cherry picked' as of outstanding quality. In 2013 his first collection of short stories, The Stainstone Witches was published. A collection of, mostly humorous, stories about the strange characters inhabiting a typical English county town. In conjunction with Geoff Tiney an illustrated collection of poetry, games and puzzles for children 7 to 11 years entitled 'The Way to Wonderland' To commemorate the anniversary of the first World War in 2014 John compiled a collection of poetry and short stories which he entitled 'The Medal' after his poem. The proceeds from the sale were donated to the Army Benevolent Fund. He then began his first full length novel 'The Telegram' which was published in July 2016. Although the chief character is an elderly lady who reminiscence abiut her life after receiving congratulations from the Queen on her centenary, many of the events are autobiographical Having accumulated a large number of poems previously unpublished, John had these published in 'Through the Hawthorn Bush' He donated the rights to Hope House, a local Braintree charity run by volunteers for accommodating the homeless and destitute of the area. A full length novel, 'Jimmy Green' about a psychopathic murderer and a 'Poets Diary' were completed in 2017 With the exception of 'The Poetry Circle' all these works are available through this web site or Amazon. The purchase of those devoted to raising money for charity will aid the causes mentioned.
