Divisa in più volumi che saranno pubblicati in successione nei mesi a venire, "100 Recensioni 100" si caratterizza come il tentativo di mostrare al lettore le fasi evolutive che portano ad imparare per davvero uno dei mestieri più odiati e temuti al mondo, quello del critico. Le difficoltà che si devono superare per essere davvero credibili al proprio pubblico sono pari soltanto alle grandi soddisfazioni che può donare l'arte del saper valutare le opere altrui, distinguendole tra loro per i contenuti, ma anche per i valori che riescono ad esprimere. Le prime recensioni dell'autore nel 2008 sono state autentici esperimenti, atti a dimostrare in modo forse eccessivamente pretestuoso un talento che, all'epoca, era decisamente al di là da venire e che forse lo è ancora oggi. Marco Asteggiano è il primo ad ammettere che, se dovesse tornare indietro di qualche anno, eviterebbe certi giudizi modificandoli considerevolmente in meglio, persino in peggio in alcuni casi. "A pensarci bene, - afferma l'autore nella prefazione, riferendosi al lettore - sono anche il primo a non voler rinnegare nulla di ciò che ho scritto fino ad ora, poichè, senza sbagliare, semplicemente non avrei avuto la possibilità di imparare davvero dai miei errori. A loro modo, i miei primi scritti di quattro anni fa contenevano i germi di quelli che, successivamente, sarebbero stati i miei scritti di oggi, certamente migliori delle recensioni di allora. Il percorso che ho compiuto per migliorarmi costantemente non si è mai fermato e non si fermerà mai, poichè scrivere è sempre stata la mia passione, così come mio è il desiderio di continuare ad esprimere per sempre quello che sento attraverso questa forma di comunicazione.
