About the Author: Bruce Burkett is a native of North Dakota. He has been working in law enforcement for forty-two years-first as a police chief in Steele, and then as a state game warden, from 1972 until January 2013.
As a game warden, Burkett has also held two additional positions: regional warden supervisor for Northeast North Dakota and investigation supervisor for the state. He has received several awards for his work over the years, including the State of North Dakota Professional Excellence Award and Dive Rescue Specialist Outstanding Instructor of the Year.
A pilot with more than 10,500 hours of flying time, Burkett holds an Airline Transport Pilot License. Additionally, he is a diver and licensed dive instructor, and has developed dive teams for drowning and rescue responses for law enforcement agencies.
Burkett has been married to his wife Beverly for forty-two years. Together, they have two daughters and four grandchildren.
