About the Book

When we evoke Iran, we think, of course, of the multi-millennial country which, apart from its rich historical past, has given rise to many poets who have marked Persian literature. Among these poets, whose fame is known worldwide, we can mention the great mystical poets Djalál ad-Din Rumi, including his famous book Masnavi or the poet Farid al-Din Attar and his work the book of advice.
One cannot cite the great classical authors without referring to Saadi, the master of the word, and his masterpieces Boustan and Golestan, whose spiritual thoughts influenced European authors such as Jean de la Fontaine. In this collection, I have collected some tales, most of which are very old and date back to pre-Islamic times.
Many were extract from mystical works written by Saadi, Attar, Khajeh Abdellah Ansari, and many other classical mystic authors. I also gathered stories told by my compatriots when I was still young. Hoping this little book will please readers and encourage me to work on a second volume.
