About the Book

Humble Servant

Synopsis

Humble Servant is a fictional story about gang violence in Los Angeles CA. The story begins in the L.A. County jail, 2011, where Roland Blake is incarcerated and dealing with Black young men who are fighting each other because they are in different gangs.

Chapter 2 starts 20 years back in 1991 when a Supreme Being, known as COAT, which stands for Creator of all Things, decides to create a special being to send to Earth for a special mission. This special being, with special powers, will not reach Earth until the year 2013. The name of this special being is Joshua Humble.

Joshua Humble and Roland Blake are meant to meet each other and try and figure out a way to stop all of the gang violence that has been destroying the black community for over 40 years. Both characters have dreams about each other that eventually brings them together.

Roland being the street person and a member of a gang, but in his thirties and not into Black-on-Black violence, is the expert on gang activity. Joshua who has just arrived on Earth is a square and must learn the ways of street life.

After realizing that Joshua is special, they decide to keep his special abilities a secret. Roland has been in and out of jail since he was 18 years old, mostly for selling drugs. After an incident that kept them from finding employment, they agreed to sell drugs until they could start their own business.

They do well selling drugs, but run into the hassles and hazardous situations that come with street life. Joshua doesn't understand the rules of the streets but is a fast learner. A couple of necessary killings occur, and they deal with them according to the rules of the streets.

Eventually they discover why they were brought together and what they were supposed to do, which to Roland was an impossible task, and that was to figure out a way to stop the young gangbanger's from killing each other.

After making lots of money selling drugs, due to Joshua's special abilities, they decide to build a corporation for gang members only in an attempt to stop all the violence.

The basic concept of the book is, what would happen if when a person does something violent to another person, that same violence is immediately done back to them. This emphasizes the Golden Rule, do unto others as if you would want them to do unto to you!!!
