Our home, our planet is suffering. Learn how to consume less and help heal the world we live in for future generations. Everyone counts. What's stopping you?Through time, man has taken giant steps in spiritual enlightenment and intelligent evolution. Compared to just a few years ago, technology, medicine, and many other areas have perfected their disciplines in leaps and bounds in order to optimize our well-being. One thing that has been neglected to be taken care of, however, is our home: the planet earth.
We are very lucky to live in these times, but at the same time, we are very reckless because we fail to understand the importance of the health of the planet. In an era of limitless consumerism, we are perpetually obsessed with our desires and nothing else can stimulate this fervent and absolutely useless desire to waste and consume.
To correct this, we should first think about what is really important for our well-being and that of our home. We have to try by all means to protect our beloved Earth, and therefore, we must focus on what is really right.
From birth, we are immersed in the daily existence made up of concrete phenomena such as day, night, rain, and sun. How concrete are the animals, the people, the streets, the houses, the trees, the earth, the water, and the fire? Throughout his history, we have modified the landscape to make it more manageable and familiar. To feel safe and at home, we erected boundaries called houses, built roads to familiar places, and domesticated other animals and resources. So much so, that the places that can be defined as uncontaminated are fewer and fewer and enclosed by borders called roads. All this has a cost that seems not to concern us it's a slow process and not very tangible since it doesn't seem to affect our bank accounts. But is it really so?
The continuous eroding of the soil, the uninterrupted abuse of water, and the increasing hunger for energy consume resources which, unfortunately, are not infinite. The time when we could ignore the shape and size of our world is long gone. The increasingly violent environmental events we witness today are the direct result of climate change. It is not certain that it is all caused by our bad habits, but what seems established is that we are part of these changes.
The collapse of game and groundwater pollution are the result of our carelessness in the management of land and waste, which causes almost incalculable economic damage. Humanity consumes more than the Earth can provide or restore. Currently, the world today is using 1.5 times the bio-capacity of the Earth per year. This means that the amount of used resources and pollution is fifty percent greater than what our planet can provide and absorb. If we maintained this rate, we would need one and a half planets to survive.
We know that over time our planet manages to "recycle everything," and in terms of thousands of years it is certainly true, but in terms of human generations this is not quite the case. By looking at the data and our environment, it's absolutely clear that we cannot and must not continue this abusive pattern. The planet's resources and raw materials are not infinite. Furthermore, its balance is very fragile, since during the past fifty years we have caused more damage to it than the rest of human existence.
So as individuals, what can we do?With Human Consciousness, you will learn what you can do to save the planet by consuming less. Everyone is important and can make a difference.
